Purpose

As a congregation we exist to respond to Jesus’ Great Commandment:

Jesus said " . . . `You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."   Matthew 22:37-39

And his Great Commission:

Jesus said to them, " . . . Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you . . . "  Matthew 28:19-20

At Church of the Resurrection we have six purposes:

Worshiping - celebrating our God

Serving - putting our faith to work

Inviting - a welcome place for all

Connecting - building relationships with Christ and one another

Sharing - joyfully and generously offering our gifts and talents to God and his Church

Growing - learning, teaching, and leading the Christian life

All six purposes help define what we do as a congregation, and they expand upon our mission statement:

A welcome place for all...growing in Christ together!
